With almost 110,000 books in its collection, St Anne’s has the largest working library of all the Oxford colleges. The Library is split across two buildings – Hartland House and the Tim Gardam Building – which are accessible 24 hours a day using your University card.

Library staff are present 9.00am – 5.15pm, Monday – Friday. During Term (Weeks 1-8), the front desks in both buildings are staffed between 10.00am – 1.00pm and 2.00pm – 5.00pm. Outside of these hours, you can usually find them in the Librarian’s Office in Hartland House or the Library Office in the Tim Gardam Building.

There are good collections in all subjects, and excellent collections in most. At the graduate level, Education, English, Philosophy, and Politics are among the subjects that are especially well catered for. If you do not find a book you are looking for in the Library, you may easily request a purchase by filling out a request form at the main desk or online via the Library’s pages on the College website.

The St Anne’s Library also provides a thesis comb-binding service that provides excellent value for money, a card-operated photocopier, and a DVD collection that MCR members may borrow from during staffed hours.

Since the addition of the new library in the Tim Gardam Building in 2017, St Anne’s Library can offer students one of the most modern and well-equipped study places in the whole of Oxford – and enough space that every student at St Anne’s can usually find their personal spot to work.

Finally, do not hesitate to contact the Librarian, Clare White (clare.white@st-annes.ox.ac.uk) if you have any questions or require assistance with the Library.
