St Anne’s Academic Review is a journal run by MCR members and funded by donors. Everyone is welcome to submit, and the journal presents a nice opportunity to publish your work. The range of categories means there is something for just about everyone.

We are thrilled to announce the publication of Volume 12 after a hiatus of several years! The issue is now available online here, with printed copies set to arrive within a week. Physical copies will be sold at £10 apiece. To purchase a copy, please contact us at staar@st-annes-mcr.org.uk or committee@st-annes.mcr.org.uk.
A big congratulations to William van Noordt and Anna Deng, the winners of the first and second monetary prizes, respectively, in the STAAR Best Piece competition. Submissions for the competition will reopen for Issue 13—stay tuned for updates!

Hey everyone!
Even though the call for abstracts has closed, we are still accepting drafts of your academic submissions—either articles or subject reviews—until the 5th of July.
Drafts should be up to 5000 words. If you wish to submit a longer piece, please reach out to the editorial board 📚.
We also welcome creative writing, translations, opinion pieces, and SPARK reviews on a rolling basis.
📰 Opinion Piece: Share your reflections on a specific issue or current event in a thought-provoking article.
🎨 Creative Writing and Translation: Submit a poem, short story, short dramatic piece, or an original translation.
🎬 SPARK Reviews: Write a comparative review featuring a recently published or produced book, film, or theatre production, alongside another work from a different timeframe.

Research article – a piece containing original results or findings from your research
Subject Review article – an unbiased piece of critical review in your subject area
Opinion piece – a thought-provoking article sharing your reflections on a specific issue or current event
Creative Writing and Translation – a poem, short story, or short dramatic piece of your own original making, or in your original translation
SPARK reviews – a comparative review article featuring a recently published or produced book, film, or theatre production juxtaposed with another work from a different timeframe
